Getting Reacquainted With Food

It’s been a few weeks now since my fast. I’ve re-gained 4 pounds or so. My tongue continues to clear which has been a reaffirming sign. I’ve observed that caffeine and lack of sleep has an affect on the “coating.” Early-going, I had some issues with meat (giving me the runs – I also got rashes on my thighs and abdomen), but it wasn’t too bad. One of the consequences after going on the Master Cleanse is that we now keep fresh soup regularly stocked (I usually have a bowl in the morning and one in the evening). Keeping nuts and trail-mix around has also been good and addresses the need for “munchies.” I watched Fast-Food Nation on DVD (not as good as the book). There is also a good video presentation and discussion here: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/company/pastpresentfuturefood.html about factory farming and ecological farming. I’ve become a lot more aware of the foods that I eat, and how they make me feel. I’m entirely off soft drinks, processed sugar (well, almost), coffee, and processed flour products. I’ve also reduced my meat intake (videos like this can help - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I-UpQTpvoes) and limit it to fish with an occasional beef hit. My wife has stopped eating pork for a few years now and I’ve stopped as well. I’ve put a stop to Foie Gras as well (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz3g4rMb8WI). *Warning on the YouTube videos – may find it disturbing*. It’s great that videos are readily available on the Internet though! It is interesting how eating meat affects thought and can promote a feeling of “restlessness” (especially after watching the videos!). For those that want to know more about the animal and farming situation, these guys are a great resource (http://www.ciwf.org/). If you are moved towards becoming vegetarian as a result based upon moral grounds, you might want to read up on Clive Backster's research...

For a strong believer on diet and cleansing, I have no critics about him. And I don't wanna say something constructive or negative about that. This is for the other readers.

What a believer does is putting all the advantages about the benefits of cleansing as his supporting evidences for other people. In the other hand, of course he will list out all the disadvantages or the ugly faces of food producing, as a warning for people who don't follow a healthy diet. Sometimes I think these advices are just like the gossip magazines that the slim body company promotes "losing weight will become more beauty and healthier" Well it is about do you have your own judgement to disguish the real benefits of cleansing, or is it just an additional method to become healthy, whether you practice it or not or only have a minimal effect.

Like the Youtube movie that mentioned about animal farming is not humanity and cause health issue like heart attacks or etc. Well I think it is a kind of hoax and scaring people with the most ugly fact, that is not the general situations about all farming in the world. And whatever how you treat the animal with humanity or not, they will eventually died for our lunch or dinner, or say it more mean, we eat corpses of animals everyday. Generally say it is not a strong point that we should be a vegetarian, or we should banned on meat eating.

Or about the Fast-food nation, I think nobody will enjoy to eat fastfood for over a month, and the message is only given that fastfood is hazards to health if we eat them as A MAIN FOOD SOURCE.

I just want to say to other readers, that you should have your own judgement and comparison, to think about what method of ways is suit you, and only suit you to lead youeself to a healthy lifestyle. Because not every solution is applicable to every people.

It just strike up my mind about biology about why human are "carnivore" and not "herbivore" At the junction of the small intestine and large intestine, (colon) there's a small organ called appendix, well this organ is really small and almost useless for human and it can be removed if there's an infection. However, this is an important organ for herbivore like cows and sheep because it is a digestive organ to produce enzymes and bateria to digest plants. So the size of the appendix in cow or sheep are comparatively large because of its functions. Of course other characteristics about the differences of human and herbivore is noticable, like human don't have 4 stomaches as the cows. So, personally I think humans are against to the nature, if we all turned to be vegetarians. Or may be saying in different way, it is not really helpful to health if we are vegetarians, because there's no effective organs to digest plants for nutritions.

I didn't study the science class when I was in the secondary school, well I thought it is just common sense.
